Reforms of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych are felt in every field, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during the First International Business Conference “ABC: Ukraine & Partners”.
He noted that fundamental transformations have taken place due to initiatives of the President over the past three years.
According to him, most of the reforms are carried out in preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. "We have supporters and opponents of the document. I often have to respond to criticism. However, we are facing the great task of modernizing the economy. We are sure to achieve our being in the top ten rating of the level of economic freedom. Although we have already achieved a lot along the way," the head of the Cabinet said.
To solve large-scale problems of modernization of the country, he continued, we should be at the center of global economic dialogue on the formation of modern models of global markets and the development of rules of international cooperation. "Ukraine passes a new stage of transformation: from stabilization of macroeconomic indicators we are passing to creation of a favorable environment for intensification of economic development by stimulating innovation, optimizing the regulatory environment, introduction of effective mechanisms for the target support in the most promising areas," Azarov emphasized.
According to him, today we have to make a bet on strengthening domestic sources of growth through import substitution, expansion of the domestic market, while at the same time, through the diversification of exports in favor of products with high added value. "To accomplish these tasks, Ukraine should use existing integration capabilities both at the European and the Eurasian direction. The active interest of foreign partners in the process of reform in our country will help implement its European prospects," the Prime Minister concluded.
