Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is convinced that the creation of an enabling environment for businesses will allow counteracting the global economic crisis.

He stated this on Friday during a business luncheon for top managers of the leading investment, financial, banking and business structures within the forum ABC: Ukraine & Partners.

"The global economic recession and the global economic crisis have clearly shown us that if we do not rely primarily on our own resources, if we do not create in our country a good environment for businesses, primarily for our own (but we are always happy to see foreign investors, too - we invite them, create a good environment for them), then Ukraine is doomed," Mykola Azarov said.

He added that Ukraine has a substantial scientific and technical potential and natural resources, favorable climate and fertile soil. "We have to create a comfortable environment for the people and the prosperity of life," the prime minister said.

He noted that today's business forum is designed to show Ukraine to the guests in a new way.

"Yes, we have problems, we do not conceal them, we are open to criticism and to suggestions. But, of course, we will stick to the course of the President of Ukraine to European integration, economic reform, a strong social policy. This is the course that the government will pursue vigorously and consistently," the prime minister emphasized.
