Ukraine's European choice is supported by Ukrainian society and the main political forces in the country, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said in a speech during the 18th Summit of Heads of State of Central Europe, the President’s press office informs.

He called on the Europeans to overcome barriers and to build a united Europe together.

"It has happened that the main dividing line, which now exists in Europe, artificially divides our region into the EU and non-EU. We are very sensitive to inconvenience of this unnatural barrier. Let us work together to overcome the barriers wherever possible," the President of Ukraine said.

According to him, the shortest route to that goal lies through pragmatic, assiduous hard work.

"The field for our common work is practically unlimited. This includes joint projects in economy and investment. This includes development of regional and cross-border cooperation. This includes the Danube, the Black Sea, the Baltic and the Adriatic Sea. It's energy security, on which the well-being of the whole of Europe depends. It’s transport infrastructure, connecting East and West, North and South of the continent. This is educational, scientific and cultural exchanges, tourism and development of direct contacts and friendly relations between our citizens and between our nations," Yanukovych concluded.
