Ukraine, as the OSCE chair, is to develop options for settling the conflict in Transnistria till the end of 2013, special representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office for protracted conflicts Andriy Deshchitsa said during discussion “Role of Ukraine in settlement of protracted conflicts", ForUm correspondent reports.

"We hope to find a solution to the Transnistria conflict settlement by end of 2013, but that requires meeting with the leaders of Moldova and Transnistria, one of which is expected in February of this year," he said.

Since January 2013, Ukraine has managed to hold two meetings, at the last of which, in May, there was signed one of the protocol decisions. "This is about dismantling the emergency cable way, which is not used for a long time and integrates the two banks of the Dniester River, presenting a danger to the public. This is a good result, considering that the last time the parties to the conflict signed agreement in July 2012," he said.

Deshchitsa added that in addition to the settlement of this conflict, Ukraine is also involved in settlement of conflicts between Georgia and South Ossetia, and Nagorno-Karabakh. "We want to hold a meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which will help to avoid future conflicts in the region. Russia is also interested in the settlement of the conflicts before the Olympic Games," he said.
