Ukraine should protect its cities and commercial facilities from the "big water", Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Arrival of the "big water" from the Central European countries is expected in the Ukrainian part of the Danube on June 20-25. There may be a rise of water up to a meter and eighty centimeters. All of us are witnesses that neighboring countries do not always cope with the extreme rise of water. And we need to protect our settlements and commercial facilities," Azarov said.
Prime Minister reminded that our hydraulic structures have already born the expected levels of water.
"However, we should strengthen everything, which is necessary, to buy materials and equipment, to finance all the works. We have about two weeks. I instruct vice Prime Minister Vilkul, head of the State Emergency Service Bolotskikh and head of the State Water Resources Agency Stashuk to personally oversee the situation at the scene,” PM instructed.
