Ukraine considers the chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) as a real opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of security and stability in the region, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, ForUm learned from the press service of the President.

Yanukovych thanked Zannier for participation in the high level conference "Strengthening of the OSCE's role in fight against human trafficking", which takes place in Kyiv. According to the President, Ukraine is directing its efforts at strengthening international cooperation in combating human trafficking.

Speaking about the priorities of Ukrainian chairmanship in the OSCE, the President noted that Ukraine has managed to reinforce the importance of the issues on energy security, environmental security and to promote the development of international cooperation in the field of energy efficiency.

The head of state informed the Secretary General of the OSCE that Ukraine is solving the number of issues related to the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. "The Association's issue meets the strategic interests of Ukraine and the European Union," he said.

In turn, Zannier is pleased with the cooperation between the executive bodies of the Organization and representatives of Ukraine. 

The OSCE Secretary General thanked the President for help with the high level conference "Strengthening of the OSCE's role in fight against human trafficking."
