The pharmaceutical  market of Ukraine, valued by experts at 3 billion euros in 2012, is attractive not only for legal producers of medicines, but for counterfeiters as well, whom Ukraine is going to struggle with.

Vice Prime Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said at the opening of an international conference “Approaches to the Practical Implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Counterfeiting of Medical Products and Similar Crimes Involving Threats to Public Health (Medicrime)” on Tuesday, ForUm correspondent reports.

It was mentioned that thanks to the efforts of government regulatory bodies, Ukraine had prevented around eight million packages of low-quality medicines from entering the domestic market.

In addition, Hryshchenko reminded that Ukraine constantly perfects legislation, aimed at fight against the spread of counterfeit medicines.
