Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is in a hospital, not in prison, and therefore cannot exercise the right to temporarily leave the institution, spokesperson for the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Ihor Andrushko said on Monday.

"Journalists just distorted my words. I explained the law and the journalistic community itself decided that convict Tymoshenko could leave the hospital," Andrushko said.
According to the representative of the State Penitentiary Service, the prisoners have the right to make such a request, but there is a clear list of reasons for doing this.

"In case of convict Tymoshenko such an opportunity is not provided for the reason that she is not in prison, but undergoes medical treatment," spokesman said.

Earlier, media reported that Ihor Andrushko said that Tymoshenko may be temporarily released to visit sick mother.
