Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak is sure that parliamentarians should improve legislation protecting the media.

"This is a major issue, and you can help us to make a proposal to amend the legislation. Perhaps, to work out a new law. No one has the right to beat journalists or try interfering with their work with words or actions," Rybak said, congratulating journalists on their professional holiday, ForUm correspondent reports.

In addition, the speaker thanked reporters for making MPs to go to the plenary sessions. "The journalists are representatives of real power, as, while someone shared power, you made them go to the Parliament. Media clearly adhere to the Constitution and are governed by the rule of law," he said.

The politician stressed that publicity of work of the Parliament is very important.

Rybak also asked the leadership of the media to file submission for the best journalists for parliamentary honors.
