Youth and sports minister of Ukraine Ravil Safiullin believes that excess of alcohol advertising on Ukrainian TV channels increases the number of drinkers in our country.
"Every tenth Ukrainian dies before the age of 35 and every fourth - 60 years. If these trends continue, our population will decrease to 36-38 million in ten years, and will be 12 million in the decades," the minister told a briefing after the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to the minister, this statistic made him address the media with the request to filter the advertisement of alcoholic beverages, shown in the evening.
"Any commercial on any TV channel break begins with alcohol advertising. You may ask what the government is doing in this situation. Yes, it does, but not enough, because we have such economic situation," the minister said.
