In Kyiv, the number of visits to doctors has increased by 17% after implementation of the medical reform, head of the medical care department of the Health Ministry of Ukraine Kostiantyn Nadutyi told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, preventive measures help to identify cancer, AIDS, etc at early stage. In addition, the official stressed that there is a tendency of reduction in the level of hospitalization after the opening of clinics in Kyiv. Nadutyi considers it happened due to the fact that family doctors have begun to carry out their functions.
He stressed that the real figures showing benefits of the medical reform in Ukraine will be known in five years.
At the same time, coordinator of the project "Health sector reforming" Oleksandr Betliy said that according to a study conducted by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting, there are some negative aspects in the implementation process of the medical reform.
In particular, there is the lack of clear information campaign among doctors and population, as well as the lack of a sufficient number of family physicians with appropriate qualifications, a selective increase in wages for medical staff and so on.
