Representative of the President of Ukraine to the Verkhovna Rada, MP of the Party of Regions Yuri Miroshnichenko does not consider appropriate to change the principles of formation of the Central Election Commission.

"The membership of the CEC is indeed formed at the initiative of the parliamentary factions at the time of the direct formation of the body. The powers of the CEC are not tied to the cadence of the Verkhovna Rada, so the main idea stipulated in the Constitution and laws is to form this body impartially. In future, members of the CEC shall not represent a particular political force, but to act according to the Constitution, the law and conscience,” he told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“CEC members represent the people of Ukraine, not political forces. And perhaps there is a desire on the part of the opposition to changes its composition.

At the moment, it is incorrect to say that the CEC members should represent some political force," he said.
