Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada proposing that Volodymyr Shapoval be dismissed as a member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) due to his reaching the retirement age of 65, the presidential press service reported, Ukrinform reports.
"In accordance with Paragraph 21, Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine and Articles 6 and 30 of the law of Ukraine on the Central Election Commission, I am submitting a motion on the early termination of office of a member of the Central Election Commission, Shapoval, in connection with his reaching the age of 65," reads the motion.

Under another motion, the president nominated Oleksandr Kopylenko for the post of a member of the Central Election Commission.

Yanukovych instructed his representative in parliament, Yuri Miroshnychenko, to present the motion at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
