Leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov does not understand why some opposition forces raise a panic over the issue of Ukraine’s observer status in the Customs Union. As ForUm correspondent, he stated this during the conciliation board in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"Dear colleagues, more than half of our trade turnover is tied to the Russian Federation, the Customs Union. And you want to quit, to leave our businesses so that they are not represented there. What's the panic over this issue? Are we somewhere sacrificing sovereignty, do we transfer any public authority there? No!" Yefremov was outraged.
MP from the Party of Regions stressed that the observer status will allow Ukraine to plan its economic activities.
He also stressed that Ukraine is not going to give the European Union the government authorities or sovereignty. "Let us accept the law, by which we fully surrender power, sovereignty of our state to the European Union? Dear colleagues, do you know the Constitution? To make such decisions, it is necessary to start to change the Constitution. You need to understand this, since you are members of Parliament," Yefremov stated.
