OSCE chairperson-in-office, Ukrainian foreign minister Leonid Kozhara stated that the memorandum on Ukraine's cooperation with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan is technical in nature.
He said this on Friday after a meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius.
"The memorandum is technical in nature as the statutory documents of the Customs Union don't provide for a notion of an observer,” Kozhara said, when asked whether signing of the memorandum with the Customs Union jeopardizes Ukraine’s course towards European integration.
He noted that the memorandum defines the status, according to which Ukraine may participate in the meetings of the Customs Union bodies without the right to vote.
