Rallies and protests should take place peacefully, and their organizers should be responsible for the people taking part in those events. This was stated by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak in answering reporters' questions about the events in Kyiv on May 18, the TV channel Rada reported, Ukrinform reports.

"If you take people to a rally, you should do everything to make it a peaceful demonstration.

“And how could it be peaceful if people brought there knives, gas sprays and began to beat journalists? This has never happened in any state when a female journalist would be beaten so brazenly," Rybak said.

In the head of parliament's conviction, such actions should be condemned and those who committed illegal acts should be punished.

The Verkhovna Rada chairman said that people have the right to the protection of their interests while going to rallies and demonstrations, and the government should hear them. The task of the organizers of such events and law enforcers is to make every effort to ensure that they take place peacefully, Rybak underscored.
