Ukraine is actively preparing for the final tournament of the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with FIBA Europe President Ólafur Rafnsson on Friday, the press service of the head of state reports.
According to the President, holding of EuroBasket-2015 is a great success and responsibility to the European sports community.
"Today, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov laid a capsule on the territory of the future construction of multifunctional complex in Kyiv," Viktor Yanukovych said. He added that active preparation was also held in all six regions hosting the tournament.
The head of state stressed that Ukraine had a great experience in hosting such tournaments. "I am confident that we will use the experience of EURO-2012 and prepare for EuroBasket decently," the President said.
He also expressed gratitude to the President of FIBA Europe for cooperation.
In his turn, Ólafur Rafnsson expressed gratefulness to Viktor Yanukovych for his support in the issues of holding EuroBasket-2015.
