Parliament adopted the resolution on formation of the provisional investigatory commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to investigate into attacks on the media workers on May 18, 2013 in Kyiv and investigate into other cases of pressure on the media, preventing the lawful professional activities of journalists.

354 MPs supported the decision out of 415 registered in the session hall.

Party of Regions factions gave 169 votes, Batkivshchyna faction – 84 votes, UDAR faction - 38 votes, Svoboda faction - 36 votes, individual deputies -27 votes.

The Communist Party faction gave no votes.

The regulation provides that the provisional investigatory commission should investigate into circumstances impeding the right of citizens to hold rallies during the "Rise, Ukraine!" protest action in Kyiv on May 18, 2013; infliction bodily harm to citizens of Ukraine; obstructing work of journalists and to inflicting them bodily harm; unlawful inaction of the law enforcement officers.

The regulation provides that the membership of the commission include 8 MPs: three members of the Party of Regions faction, two members of the All-Ukrainian Union "Batkivshchyna" faction, one member of the UDAR Party faction, one member of the All-Ukrainian "Svoboda" Union, one member of the Communist Party of Ukraine faction.
Vitaly Yarema (Batkivshchyna faction) was elected as chairman of provisional investigatory commission, Andriy Pinchuk (Party of Regions faction) – as vice chairman.

The membership consists of Olena Bondarenko, Iryna Horina (Party of Regions faction), Iryna Herashchenko (UDAR faction), Stepan Kurpil (Batkivshchyna faction), Andriy Ilyenko (Svoboda faction), Oleksandr Zubchevsky (CPU faction).
Provisional investigatory commission shall work six months upon the date of taking decision.

Commission report on the performed work shall be heard at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine no later than one month from the date of taking decision.
