Free trade area with the EU will allow Ukrainian exporters to save 487 million EUR on reducing export duties, head of Economic and Trade Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Nicholas Burge told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to official, reduction of customs tariffs will have an important effect for the economy. "If the FTA works fully, 95% of import tariffs will be also nullified, and the remaining will be reduced. This will primarily reflect at Ukrainian agriculture and industry," the expert said.
In turn, the Government plenipotentiary for European Integration Valeriy Pyatnitsky noted that position of Kyiv on revision of import duties rates (on 371 positions) within the WTO membership is unchanged, but it will not happen not all in one package, but separately in relevant industries. "All positions are grouped into several types, each group will be discussed separately. To do this, we need to agree with the countries, interested in one group or another," Pyatnitsky noted.
He added that the negotiation process is interesting to everyone, including Brussels, which is interested to resolve this issue in the context of general Association Agreement.
