The adoption of the next legislative package by the Verkhovna Rada brings Ukraine closer to the EU and the Association Agreement, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kliuyev stated, ForUm learned from the NSDC press office.

According to him, on Tuesday, the Parliament passed several laws, the adoption of which is provided for by a set of agreements between Ukraine and the European Union, and in particular, by the action plan for the liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukraine.

Kliuyev stressed that one of the most important documents, in finalization of which efforts of the authorities and the opposition were combined, was the bill on improvement of anti-corruption policy.

MPs also passed a law on improving the system of protection of personal data. In addition, the Parliament finally adopted the law on amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning the accession of our country to the Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, which supplements the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, the secretary of the NSDC said.

"All branches of the Ukrainian authorities are working to bring closer the possibility of signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. I am glad that the power and the opposition find a common language in this matter," Kliuyev added.
