Ukraine shared the 74th place in the annual ranking of countries friendly to mothers, published by the Save the Children international organization.

"Ukraine shared 74th place with Algeria and El Salvador, giving way to such countries as Lebanon, Kazakhstan and Peru, but leaving behind rather developed ones - South Africa and Brazil. However, Ukraine is not much better than that of countries such as Iran, Sri Lanka and Mongolia," the organization notes.

Experts analyzed data on 176 countries. Finland occupies the first place, the Democratic Republic of Congo - the last one. The first ten countries include Sweden, Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Australia.

Russia occupies the 59th position, Moldova – 84th and Georgia – 94th. Among the countries of the former Soviet republics, Belarus has the highest rating, occupying the 26th position, being ahead of countries such as the U.S., Japan and even Luxembourg.

Experts, placing the countries in the ranking of "Index of motherhood", base on data from the World Health Organization concerning the five main indicators of each country: the level of maternal mortality, infant mortality, average length of schooling, income of women, the percentage of women and men in government.
