U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry expressed his full support for the European integration of Ukraine during the meeting with the foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara.

"Mr. Secretary of State expressed his full support for the European integration of Ukraine," Kozhara said.

At the same time, he confirmed that the meeting among others addressed the issue of imprisonment of the ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, which the U.S. considers an obstacle to Ukraine's signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.

"Indeed, the question of Yulia Tymoshenko was discussed, and Mr. Secretary of State believes that this issue is an obstacle to Ukraine's relations with the European Union and is also a big issue in our bilateral relations with the United States," the minister said.

In a statement issued before the meeting, Mr. Kerry stated he hoped that Ukraine would sign the Association Agreement in the near future, fulfilling the conditions of the EU, including those to solve one of the "most difficult issues" regarding Tymoshenko.
