Supporting the decision of the United Nations on providing stability in the world, Ukraine will continue to participate actively in the prevention of international military conflicts, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said in his address on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation.

According to the press service of the President, the statement noted that Ukraine honoured the memory of all who died during the Second World War. Ukraine, which became one of the decisive scenes of hostilities in 1941-1944, faced a particularly hard destiny. "Our people paid for their freedom with millions of lives," it emphasized.

Yanukovych noted that "after that tragedy we deeply realized that global problems should be resolved only peacefully." "The sacred duty of each of us is to cherish the memory of the deceased and care for present and future generations," the President stressed.
