Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka notes progress in the implementation of the European Union requirements, necessary for the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement - the reform of the judicial system in line with international standards.

This is stated in the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, citing the interview with Pshonka on one of the Ukrainian TV channels.

"The new Code of Criminal Procedure has already come into force. It stipulates the rules on such preventive measures, which the old one did not include. This refers to house arrest, bail, and the like," he noted.

According to Pshonka, after the introduction of the new Code of Criminal Procedure, active work on the preparation of other laws, related to the reform of criminal justice, is going on.

"The law on advocacy is already adopted. The law on free of charge legal aid is already developed and adopted, which will be effective from January 2017," Pshonka added.

Therefore the Prosecutor General believes that the European standards are gradually being introduced in the legislation of Ukraine.
