Preparatory works for the launch of Bushehr NPP are in the final stage, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Fereydoon Abbasi told economic conference, ForUm correspondent reports. According to him, Russia passes station to Iranian specialists.

"We will launch the plant only when we are fully confident in its preparedness and absence of technical problems. However, Russian experts used the most advanced technologies in the construction," the official stressed.

He recalled that this is the first nuclear power plant, not only in Iran but also in the Middle East. "Construction began in 1974 by the German concern Kraftwerk Union AG (Siemens / KWU), but then paused. In 1992, an agreement on the continuation of the construction was concluded with the Russian Federation, and in 1995 it was renewed. The physical plant startup began under the control of the IAEA in August 2010. In May 2011, works on bringing nuclear steam supply system at the minimum controllable power level were performed," the nuclear scientist noted.

Abbasi informed that Iran offered several countries to invest in new nuclear power plant in the Iranian territory and then sell the electricity. Pointing to the successful joint experience with Russia in the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the expert added that Iran is interested in being an investor of such facilities in other countries to accumulate more experience in the nuclear industry.
