The fact that the negotiations between the EU and Ukraine reached the level of discussing economic issues, shows the willingness of the EU to make a positive decision on the Association. This opinion was expressed by director of the Kyiv Center for Political and Conflict Studies Mykhailo Pohrebinsky, commenting on the preliminary results of the visit of first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov to Brussels for talks with representatives of the European Commission.
"If Europeans continue to discuss economic issues with us, they clearly demonstrate that the door to the EU is open to us, and they are ready to continue cooperation. I believe that this mode of negotiation is like training for a positive decision on the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. If such important negotiations are held at the level of first vice prime minister, yhat means that a pre-political consensus is found," Pohrebinskiy said.
