Establishment and launch of a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU will promote to the development of local agroindustrial complex, as well as help expand the Ukrainian food products in the European market, first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said during today's meeting with Mr. Dacian Ciolos, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.

"Beginning of the functioning of deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU will be an important factor for our countries, including in terms of the development of the agricultural sector and its participation in the global supply chain of food. Ukrainian party expects to intensify agricultural trade with the EU countries," Arbuzov said.

He also noted that Ukraine actively reforms its sanitary and phytosanitary standards, harmonizing them with the EU standards to expand access of the Ukrainian food products to the EU market. First vice Prime Minister stressed the importance of access of the Ukrainian producers of poultry and dairy products to the markets. Arbuzov said that Ukraine is interested in reforming and modernizing its agricultural sector, and therefore relies on the commitment of the European Commission in attracting additional investment in this sector.
