Ukraine faces ambitious task to conduct reforms for signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the Government does not intend to deviate from these objectives, first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said during today's meeting in Brussels with Janusz Lewandowski, member of the European Commission for Financial Programming and Budget.

"We face a number of ambitious and fundamental tasks, the successful implementation of which influence the possibility of functioning of the Ukrainian economy in a deep and comprehensive free trade area with the EU. First of all it is a question of adapting our legislation and conduct of the appropriate system reforms. As the first vice PM, head of the economic bloc of the government, I am directly involved in this process," Arbuzov noted.
 


Commenting on performing the requirements, set earlier by the EU for signing the Association Agreement, the first vice Prime Minister said that Ukraine has made significant progress on each of these criteria.

"We're not going to stop. I am convinced that Ukraine and the EU will achieve the necessary criteria, and strategically beneficial Association Agreement will be signed during the summit of "Eastern Partnership" on November 28-29 in Vilnius," Arbuzov said at the meeting with Commissioner Lewandowski.

In turn, Janusz Lewandowski assured in a positive approach to the integration of Ukraine into the European community. According to him, the Lithuanian presidency of the EU, which begins Jon uly 1, will especially promote the progress in this direction, and the development of relations with Ukraine will be one of the priorities of Lithuania's Presidency of the EU.
