Ukraine is able to meet recommendations of the European Union, necessary for signing of the Association Agreement, Germany's Ambassador to Ukraine Christof Weil said in an interview with ZN.UA, Interfax informs.

The European Union would like to have Ukraine as a partner, which is committed to European values, Ambassador said, when asked why the EU puts forward conditions for the signing of the Association Agreement by Ukraine, although he names it “a program of large-scale reforms and modernization of the country”.

"Because we are talking not about a simple treaty on free trade area. This document also deals with political association. We would like to have Ukraine as a partner that is committed to European values," he said.

"Our recommendations, the implementation of which should be a prerequisite for the signing of the Association Agreement, are quite feasible for any European country. In additional, you will still have a lot to do after the implementation of these recommendations and the signing - the implementation of hundreds of pages of the agreement. Does the EU demands that Ukraine do something impossible, which is beyond its strength? I believe that our expectations are only natural when it comes to signing the agreement, which in terms of its scope and depth is unparalleled in the history of the European Union's relations with third countries," the diplomat said.

Weil also believes that the state, which wants to be associated with the European Union, should be able to meet these conditions.
