Israel called on the Ukrainian authorities to ratify the agreement between Ukraine and Israel on social security, deputy foreign minister of Israel Ze'ev Elkin told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"This agreement was signed by the foreign ministers of Israel and Ukraine. In Israel it is already ratified, despite the pre-election period, we made an exception and ratified it during the election period. Now we await ratification from the Ukrainian party. As far as we know, it is in the final stages, the government submits it to the Parliament," Elkin said.

He recalled that in Israel today live half a million immigrants from Ukraine. "Agreement covers many of them, especially veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who experience a difficult situation, are waiting for the agreement. The veterans, who came from Russia, continue receiving veterans' pensions, and veterans, who came from Ukraine – do not receive such. For them, it is important not so much financial as symbolically," deputy foreign minister of Israel noted.
