Ukraine and Iran are planning to hold the fifth meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

A respective agreement was reached during a meeting between Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Iranian agriculture minister Sadeq Khalilian in Kyiv on Wednesday, Ukrinform reports.

"I see no reasons why we could not hold a regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Iranian commission with the clear provision of an information message on the list of issues that will be considered," Azarov said.

He added that Ukraine was interested in intensifying cooperation with Iran with unconditional observance of international sanctions that were introduced against this country.

Azarov said that agricultural policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk would be appointed a co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission from the Ukrainian side, since agricultural products account for over 60% of Ukrainian exports to Iran.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister said that cooperation in aviation, transport and training of experts was also promising.

Sadeq Khalilian, in turn, said that Ukrainian-Iranian trade was constantly increasing and has already exceeded $1 billion. "Fortunately, the volume of trade between our countries is constantly growing and now it has reached $1.27 billion. There are all opportunities to increase it by three times," said.

The Iranian agriculture minister also gave Azarov an invitation from the country's first vice President to visit Iran. Azarov accepted the invitation.
