NATO welcomes SBU reforming
NATO sees positive results in reforming of the Security Service of Ukraine, director of the NATO office of security Stephen Smith told journalists, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Ukraine and NATO have cooperated within the joint working group on reforming of the security sector. I see the results and progress of this work. In addition, I met with the head of SBU, who told me that the draft law on the SBU is being approved, after which it will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada. We talked about that the SBU has reached the age of maturity, because the old law acted 21 years, and now it is possible to adopt a new," he said.

Smith also stressed that the SBU has enough experience to perform its duties.

In turn, deputy chairman of the SBU Volodymyr Porodko noted that the service has held seven international consultations with NATO experts during the reforming process. "Certainly, we use the international experience, and today's VI International Conference is a great example that there are common problems and we are looking for their solutions together," he concluded.
