There are no Ukrainian citizens among the members and passengers of seized helicopter in Afghanistan.  Citizen of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and citizens of Turkey were taken prisoners.
 
On April 21, a Mi-8 helicopter chartered by private Afghan company Khorasan left the province of Khost for Kabul. Due to bad weather the helicopter made an emergency landing in Azra district, the province of Logar. The largest part of the district is under the control of the Taliban radical movement.

Immediately after the helicopter was seized, it was surrounded by the Taliban, who took all those on board hostage.

Later, the Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry stated that it did not confirm information of media about the alleged captivity of Ukrainian citizens in Afghanistan.

"According to preliminary data, information about captivity of citizens of Ukraine in Afghanistan is not confirmed," acting director of information policy department at the Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis said.

However, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine added that diplomats continue verifying the data.
