Over five million people and more than 350 thousand staffs of enterprises participated in the all-Ukrainian clean-up event, the Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Ministry press service informs.
According to minister Hennady Temnyk, 435 new playgrounds were set and 11.377 thousand playgrounds were renovated during the work day. In addition, more than 27 hectares of building surrounding grounds were cleaned up and given a proper sanitary condition. 22 thousand illegal dumps were eliminated; 272 thousand cubic meters of waste were removed.
He added that 2.430.527 thousand trees and shrubs were planted, 10 million square m of lawn and flower beds were put in order.
"The annual holding of this event helps to raise the level of social activity and social responsibility, to improve state of settlements in the country," Temnyk said.
