NBU calls on banks to improve skills of internal auditors

The National Bank of Ukraine considers that representatives of internal audit of banks should constantly improve their skills, deputy director of the department for financial monitoring of the NBU Dmytro Tymofeyev said during a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Improvement of skills is a ground for efficient system. Today, managers of banks need to understand that not only employees of financial monitoring units have to improve their levels of professional knowledge. But representatives of internal audit of banks need to improve the skills as well," he said.

According to him, the results of some tests showed that recommendations of the internal audit staff may lead to some infractions.

Tymofeyev stressed that the NBU pays much attention to this issue. "We provide training not only for banks, but also for our territorial departments," he concluded.
