The production of biofuels is not only a necessity but also a strategy for Ukraine, agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said during a meeting with deputies, ForUm correspondent reports.
He reminded that Ukraine depends on import of petroleum products. "We understand that the production of biofuels is important for us. It is a strategy," the minister stressed.
According to Prysiazhniuk, Ukraine has already approved the law on voluntary use of 5% of bioethanol in light oil products in 2013. Starting from the next year, these 5% will become mandatory.
The minister believes that the biofuel production in Ukraine will also help the sugar industry. And it will allow the industry to increase its profitability.
