Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych welcomes the decision of the European Parliament (EP) to approve the visa facilitation agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, Ukrinform news agency reported, referring to the presidential press service.
"The European Parliament voted for visa liberalization with Ukraine by a simple majority," Yanukovych said at a meeting with chairman and CEO of Arcelor Mittal Lakshmi Mittal.
"We did a lot of work together with the European Commission while drawing up these documents and finally this decision has been approved," the President said.
He added that Ukrainians would be able to travel to Europe under a new procedure as soon as all procedures are accomplished and the document comes into force.
Yanukovych also stressed the importance of the resumption of the Verkhovna Rada's work. "For the first time in the term of this Parliament it has started to work and pass laws," the President said.
