Ukraine and the United Kingdom expressed willingness to enhance cooperation in political and economic areas. This was discussed during a meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov with the chairman of the British-Ukrainian community Lord Rizbi and British Ambassador to Ukraine Simon Smith, the Cabinet’s press service informs.
The parties also discussed the integration of Ukraine into the European Union. Azarov notes Ukraine's implementation of the action plan adopted in preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement and the adoption of appropriate legislation in Parliament by the summit of "Eastern Partnership", which will be held in November in Vilnius.
In response, the chairman of the British-Ukrainian community noted the support of Ukraine's European aspirations on the part of the United Kingdom. "We understand that Ukraine is an integral part of the European family - the European states. We hope to see you as part of the family. I want to assure you once again that it is the only position of the Great Britain," Rizbi told Azarov.
