In the near future, increase in tuition fees in the children's art schools in Ukraine is not expected, culture minister Leonid Novokhatko told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.
"No changes on this issue are expected in the near future. In any case, I will never support them," culture minister stressed.
Novokhatko said that today in Ukraine there are 1466 children's art schools, seven of which are subject to the Ministry. "The average tuition fee in these schools is 52 UAH. In the so-called agrarian regions, it is 40 UAH per child. The highest price is in two cities - Sevastopol and Kyiv," the minister said.
According to him, in Kyiv, for teaching their children to play on folk instruments parents monthly pay for about 70 UAH, for teaching to play the piano, guitar, pop singing - 140-150 UAH. "Although the prime cost (of teaching. - Ed.) is of course higher," Novokhatko admitted.
