The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine intends to defend the interests of citizens if Russia introduces entry with international passports, acting director of the Foreign Ministry information policy department Yevhen Perebyinis said.

"We have a bilateral agreement on visa-free entry, which provides for entry with internal passports.

So far, there have been no appeals from Russian party on amendments to this agreement. If such proposal is made, then we will consider, we will negotiate ... We'll take into account the interests of our citizens in reaching these agreements with the Russian party," Perebyinis noted.

However, he stressed that Ukraine is not going to initiate the introduction of entry with international passports for the Russian citizens.

According to media reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin noticed the need to resort to such measures no later than in 2015.
