Ukraine and Belarus identified directions for further trade and economic cooperation.

As the press service of the first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov informs, this was discussed during his meeting with the first vice Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

"The main themes were further expansion of bilateral trade and new large-scale cooperation projects in fields of strategic importance to the economies of the two countries - energy, transport and agriculture," the press-service informs.

In addition, during the meeting the parties also discussed strengthening of the co-operation in the field of engineering and joint sale of products in the markets of the third countries. It was agreed to hold the meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission under the chairmanship of deputy heads of government on May 22.

"A separate item on the agenda was the removal of trade barriers, existing in certain areas of bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed to resolve the current issues in a constructive spirit, inherent in the relations of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus," the press service statement says.

In particular, agreement was reached on the visit of agrarian policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk to Belarus to resolve issues and complete projects of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and agro-industrial sector.
