Ukraine has not cooperated with Libya in the provision of goods and services of military and special purposes since the imposing of UN sanctions in 2011, the press service of the Ukrspetsexport, Ukrainian state-owned arms trading company, stated in response to the publication of The Washington Post newspaper on possible illegal arms deliveries by Ukraine to Libya.
"The company provides a military and technical cooperation with other countries in strict compliance with the international obligations of the state and under the control of the State Export Control Service. Ukraine fully adheres to the requirements and restrictions imposed by the UN and other respected international organizations. Consequently, there can be no talks about violation of the UN sanctions imposed against Libya in 2011 by Ukraine," the press service emphasized.
The distribution of this information is a step aimed at weakening the position of Ukraine as one of the world's leading exporters of arms and specialty products.
