
Ukraine will launch the first communications satellite on December 28, 2013, head of the State Space Agency Yuri Alexeyev tod a briefing after the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, it will be a national communication satellite system with geostationary spacecraft "Lybyd". Operator of the system is the “Ukrkosmos” State Space Agency of Ukraine.
"The launch is scheduled for December 28, 2013 with a ground start at Baikonur," he said. Alekseev also added that the payback period will make up 11-12 years, and the operating life - 15 years.
It is still not known what commercial organizations will use the satellite, but state agencies are to be transferred to "Lybyd".
