On April 10, the Higher Military Court of Libya will start consider appeal in the case of 19 citizens of Ukraine, sentenced on June 4, 2012, by the Tripoli Military Court to 10 years of imprisonment, acting director of the Foreign Ministry Information Policy Department Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Ukraine in Libya involve qualified lawyers and translators in order to ensure the rights and protection of the interests of Ukrainians during the appeal proceedings. The court hearing will be attended by the consular official diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Tripoli.

"The Ukrainian party hopes that Libya's Supreme Military Court will consider the case against the Ukrainian citizens in open and transparent manner, and its ruling will be impartial and fair, and will comply, according to the Libyan authorities, with intention to build a modern, democratic state," Perebyinis said.
