Ukraine must have a full range of modern agricultural equipment of domestic production, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at the meeting on issues of agricultural machinery, ForUm correspondent reports.
The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine uses 80% of imported equipment. In addition, units of domestic production have many imported details.
"We face the following: the country, which plans to produce 80 million tons of grain a year, and 100 million tons in the near future, which has a good position in the production of meat and milk, has 80% of imports. This is the Rubicon which we should not pass," Azarov said.
He stressed that Ukraine has all the best for the production of agricultural machinery. In addition, the development of production will create new jobs. As for funding, the PM noted that farmers often do not have enough money to buy equipment.
"There is demand for equipment, but there is no money to buy it. That's about Hamlet's question," the head of government said.
The Prime Minister added that the Finance Ministry should help the villagers to answer the question of where to find the resources. There is also need to establish a national system of leasing, to create a system of agricultural banks, which have to become active participants in the market and contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.
