The Administration of the President of Ukraine hopes that the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union to amend the agreement on simplification of visa regime will come into effect by the May holidays, advisor to the President - Presidential Administration Main Office for International Affairs head Andriy Honcharuk, ForUm correspondent reports.

"For the agreement to come into full effect, the EU should pass the relevant procedures. These processes are at the stage of the decision. The relevant committees of the European Parliament have produced positive findings. These are the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Civil Affairs. The European Parliament scheduled to consider the issue at the plenary session of April 17. Then there will be an exchange of notes. We want the agreement to come into force by the May holidays," Honcharuk said.

According to him, Ukraine is satisfied with such changes only as an intermediate result. "Our strategic goal is the abolition of visas for long-term visits to the Schengen area member states," he noted.
