Yanukovych names condition for partial joining CU

Ukraine will start to consider accession to certain provisions of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on receiving the observer status in this organization, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said at the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov.

" Ukraine, on receiving the status of an observer, might get access to the documents of the Customs Union, and will start considering them. We can work with our colleagues from the Customs Union to look for options of joining to a particular provision. Naturally, we will seek to join the provisions, which would be in line with our laws, our international obligations, in order to create parity relations," Viktor Yanukovych said.

According to the President, the process of normalization of relations with the Customs Union is of particular concern for Kyiv. "We do not want the process of trade confrontation," he added.
