U.S. policy towards Ukraine will remain the same as now, the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Mr. John Tefft assured reporters in Donetsk on Thursday, April 4.

"If there is a question about the policy, the policy of the United States towards Ukraine will be the same as it is today," he said.
He added: "This policy was announced by Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman during her recent visit to Ukraine. We think appropriate direct dialogue, direct communication with the current Ukrainian leadership".

Answering a question about whether the U.S. Congress will consider imposing sanctions against government officials in Ukraine, the ambassador said, "You know the Congress passed a law on Ukraine in December. The Magnitsky law was passed as well, but it is more about Russia. I do not know that some initiatives were heard about this on Ukraine".
