The Higher Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases upheld the conviction of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, confirmed by the Appeal Court to former interior minister Yuri Lutsenko - four years imprisonment for abuse of power.
Such a decision was announced by presiding judge Serhiy Slynko on Wednesday.
Thus, the court dismissed cassation appeal of Lutsenko. Since the duration of Lutsenko’s sentence is calculated from the moment of his detention (since the time, arrest is a preventive measure. - Ed.), based on the decision of the Higher Specialized Court, the ex-minister will be released at the end of December 2014.
