The Defense Ministry expects to get billion incomes from the sale of excess property, defense minister Pavlo Lebedev told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

He stressed that the Defense Ministry has a lot of unnecessary assets, including military camps, technique, and even the furniture factory.

Lebedev said that the excess property will be sold by direct sale at auction, and the incomes will amount to billions of hryvnia.

Answering the clarifying question whether the money will go to the Defense Ministry, or will "melt" in the state budget, the minister said: "By law, they go to the state budget and by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers are allocated including to the Defense Ministry. There is an agreement with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov that these funds will be allocated to the Defense Ministry. We have submitted a document to the Cabinet and await its approval to fix the intended use".
